Tempest Nanomunitions[]
Tempest Nanomunitions must be installed in both arms, both shoulders, or the torso. The result is a device that fires packed clusters of ball bearings like a shotgun, in a short burst before the augment.
The nanomunitions are most destructive at extremely close range; the falloff in munitions damage is quite dramatic. Within arm's reach, damage is 4D6; Outside of that, within five feet, damage is 2D6. Within ten feet, it falls off to 1D6. Any obstruction of the burst creates a 'shadow' within which objects and individuals are safe from damage, unless that obstruction is impaled.
The Tempest's rank directly translates to how many cannisters of munitions it can be loaded with at a time, with a limit of 3. Reloading the Tempest involves expanding bays where the system is located, and as such takes a great deal of time without assistance - mid-combat reloads of the Tempest are impossible.
The Tempest does not manufacture its own munitions.
Hurricane Ubiquitous-Fire System[]
The Hurricane augments the Tempest to fire in a full sphere around the augment, but in doing so imparts a centripetal motion to the munitions' trajectory. As a result, if fired in the full sphere, damage is constrained to the arm's reach and five foot categories - the ten-foot scatter range is eliminated.
The presence of the Hurricane does not mean that it becomes the only mode of operating the Tempest. Instead, the augmentation may be fired in broad cone or close burst, with the same pool of munitions for both.
